For assessing the elastomer parts after
the initial storage period, the following procedure is proposed:
- Checks conducted against the applicable product
specification
If a measure of this kind is not provided for in the product specification
concerned, then the following check routines should be performed.
- Visual check
Every part or every component in the representative sample must
be Neoprene checked to look for:
- Permanent deformation, such as wrinkles or
flat areas
- Mechanical damage like cuts, cracks,
abraded areas or detached layers
- Crack formation at the surface, observed
under a magnifying glass with 10- fold magnification
- Changes in the state of the surface,
like hardening, softening, tackiness, discoloration
and soiling.
A record must be kept of the features checked for the
parts or components stored.
